Biological imaging is improved through use of our unique imaging capabilities. Our state-of-the art DEXI instrument is ideal for imaging small animals, such as those used in research. Below are some examples of the biological samples Nesch has imaged. To learn more about our biological imaging capabilities, please contact us.

These images show a "normal-diet" mouse and a "fat-diet" mouse - can you tell the difference? Although the immediate size difference is clear in all the images, the location of excess fat is impossible to deduce from the conventional radiograph; however, the refraction images clearly show the boundaries between the fat and lean tissues (specifically in the stomach region). Additional anatomical features of each mouse are also identified in each of the DEXI images (extinction, refraction, and scattering).
Chicken Bone (w/ Cartilage) |
| These images show a chicken bone surrounded by soft tissue and cartilage. In the conventional image, the soft-tissue details are difficult to see. The refraction image, however, clearly shows both hard and soft tissue details.
